Canon Powershot S5 IS question

I've been considering buying myself a Canon Powershot S5 IS. I want to learn a bit more about photography, and it seems like a good stepping stone between a normal point and shoot and an SLR camera. I was wondering though, is it possible to change the lens on this camera if I should want to buy another lens and change between the two? I couldn't find anything about this on Canon's website. Also, if any of you have this camera, would you recommend buying this camera?

[Recommendations for other cameras are welcome as well, since I'm still in the shopping stage. ;)]

You can add auxiliary lenses, such as a fish-eye, macro or wideangle attachment, which screws onto the filter mount.

You may also want to consider the Panasonic DMC-FZ series of cameras, they too have fixed lenses and the ability to manually control the aperture, shutter speed and ISO. The Panasonic also has a Leica lens which is one of the best lenses on the market.|||Like the answer above, I would like to verify that the S5IS does not change lens like a dSLR; but you can add on teleconverter lens, wide angle, or other filters with the purchase of the Canon converter.

Because you want to step up to a "higher-end" point and shoot camera, I do not think that the S5IS will provide you with the quality and features that you would find in a dSLR. Of course, no point and shoot will be that good of a camera, but I know personally that the Canon G9 rivals the quality of the standard dSLR. It has the manual features that you get with the dSLR (but not on the S5IS); it has the strong, metal body; unlike the dSLRs and the S5IS, it is more compact; and it has a real viewfinder which works great if you set the dial to the left of it correctly. =)

The thing is, though, that the S5IS and the G9 are discountinued as the new models (the S6IS and G10) are coming up for announcment during the latter part of August. You might want to just wait and check those out; may just be the camera that you are looking for. If you really want to get the models now, check your local camera shop and check. I'd highly reccomend you take a look at the G9; the zoom may be smaller, but with digital zoom and nearly double the megapixel, zoom should not be an issue.

Hope this helps!
