Sony鈥檚 Alpha 300/350 or Canon鈥檚 EOS Rebel XSi?

The Sony sounds like more bang for the buck with a image stabilization system and I like the idea of a fold out view finder. But Canon has been in the market for friggen ever. Which should I go for?

I will be backpacking through China and trying to go from a beginner photographer to master by the end of this. Size and weight are important for this reason.

Also what accessories and lenses should I buy for this. If you had to pick one lens type which one would you get?|||If you want in the market forever ... look at Nikon ... they have been making pro cameras since 1959 ... Canon? Since 1988.

Why you missed the Nikon edge and most bang for the buck, I don't know. $450 for a D40 with 18-55 mm lens ... for another $200 you can get a 55-200 mm VR to add to your backpack.

Go into a camera store that sells Nikon, Canon and Sony and look at each and see which you like the best.

Don't forget UV filters for each lens to protect the front elements and plenty of memory cards.

If you want to have one lens, choose the 18-200 mm VR or 18-200 mm IS (depending upon which camera brand you buy) Remember to buy the camera at least six months before your trip so you can learn how to use all of its features before you fly to China. Attempting to learn how to use a fully adjustable camera while traveling can be a disaster.

Neither of these cameras are a P%26amp;S camera. You need the same skills to use them that you would if you were taking a 35 mm SLR with you.
