Lens Recommendations for Canon 5D mark ii?

I've already purchased more than a few lenses (and some I'm using from my old film slr), but am looking for a good (fantastic, even!) lens for my new Canon 5D mark ii. Primarily, this would be a lens for portraits.

Lenses I already own: Canon(s): 35-80 .1/1.3, 28-80 1:3.5-5.6, 75-300 1.5/4.9, 28-135 .5/1.6, 50mm .45/1.5, Tamron lens: 75-300mm 4-5.6, Bower: 500mm f/8.0 Reflex Mirror Lens.

Ideally, I'd like to keep it around $500-$600, but I'll admit, I'm drooling over the luxury series from canon (at $1200+) so for the right lens, well, that's what I'd do...since the glass is rather important! :)|||For portraits with your 5D the EF 100mm f2.0 USM would be ideal.

For wide, sweeping landscapes the EF 14mm f2.8L II USM would be a great but expensive choice.

In my opinion you have way too much overlap with your current lens selection. 35-80mm, 28-80mm, 28-135mm and two 75-300mm lenses? I suggest selling the 35-80mm and 28-135mm and one of the 75-300mm lenses. With the 28-80mm and 75-300mm you have minimal overlap and a range of 28mm to 300mm with only two lenses. That leaves you with the 28-80mm, the 50mm and one 75-300mm plus your 500mm mirror lens. Add the 14mm for landscapes and the 100mm for portraits and in my opinion you'd have a much better kit.|||I always check photozone.de for lens reviews.

Portrait lenses that work well with the 5 mark ii (yes I own one):

-%26gt;Tokina 100mm f/2.8 (great macro lens as well)

-%26gt; For a wide angle lens thats really sharp in the centre try the 17-40mm f/4. It just happens to be an L lens and is in your budget

-%26gt;Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 (I use this lens the whole time and it is incredibly affordable)
