Is having the best camera lenses more important then the camera body itself?

Hi, I'm still having troubles on buying a new DSLR camera. I can't make up my mind whether if i buy an expensive kit with 18-55 lens or buy a cheaper one and invest on higher mm lenses. I'm thinking of Nikon's d60 or Canon's 450d.Some say that it's best if i buy a Nikon d40 and invest on lenses, but i want a high Megapixel camera (I know pixels don't count but I really want 10Megapix or higher). Thanks.. xoxo..|||I suggest buying the DSLR of your choice with the standard "kit lens". Once you've learned to use the camera and mastered its capabilities then you can start thinking about buying additional lenses. By then you will have a better idea of what type of photography you do the most and can choose a lens that compliments your style.

I believe its foolish to buy a lens just because someone says you should. If you find yourself shooting groups indoors then a fast (f1.4, f2) wide angle lens might be your best choice. If you bought a 50-300mm zoom because someone said it was great lens you'll find it completely impractical for shooting groups indoors. If you find yourself shooting sports or nature then that 12-24mm zoom you bought because someone said it was a great lens will be useless for sports and nature.

Buy the camera with the kit lens and worry about buying additional lenses in 6 months.|||The d60 for sure, but the lenses are useless without a good body, and vica versa, photography is expensive! lol!|||get a higher mid-grade camera and mid grade lenses and then later if you feel you need more clarity and detail, buy better lenses and you still have the pretty decent camera wether you upgrade later or not.|||the lens is extremely important. without a good lens, the rest of the camera is a paperweight.

what I would do, buy the best camera that yoou can afford, use the default lens, then upgrade to a better (longer) lens later.|||The term garbage in garbage out is very true for camera lenses. If you buy crap lens then your sensor will produce crap pictures. Get the best lens you can get for your camera first, then upgrade your camera. Most modern cameras can produce very nice pictures but without a good lens, you wont get that quality. A better camera will help, but not as much as a good lens. |||it all depends on what you plan to do. Professional would go for the "better" lenses. If you are not professional, it will not make much difference. In all actuality, no one will be able to tell the difference.

I would look at the Olympus two lens kits.
